Where Wilsonville's Runoff Goes
Hydroseeding in Wilsonville goes hand in hand with stormwater. Boeckman Creek and Coffee Lake Creek carry about 85 percent of the runoff in the city, and Coffee Lake Creek runs through the Coffee Lake Wetlands on the west side. Most land inside the city is level, with the Chehalem Mountains' foothills to the west, so water moves slowly and finds the low spots.
December is the wettest month
Wilsonville averages about 6.67 inches of rain in December, while July and August average highs around 87 degrees. We try to get new lawns seeded and rooted before late fall; anything sprayed later gets a heavier mulch so it holds on flat but saturated ground.
Planned communities
The city includes Villebois on its western edge and Charbonneau across the Willamette, and the Frog Pond area on Boeckman Road has a new primary school. Newer neighborhoods bring builder lots, common areas and stormwater swales that all need seed. We hydroseed swales and detention areas with a mix suited to periodic standing water.
Silt fence near the creeks
Lots that drain toward Boeckman, Coffee Lake, Meridian or Basalt Creek should have silt fence and inlet protection in place before grading starts and until the grass is thick.
Along the Willamette
Boones Ferry Park sits at the landing of the old Boones Ferry on the Willamette. River-edge lots on both the city side and the Charbonneau side need erosion control on any bank that gets disturbed.

Wilsonville Questions
Can you hydroseed a stormwater swale?
Yes. We use a seed mix that handles both wet spells and dry summers, with tackified mulch to hold it on the swale sides.
Is late November too late to seed in Wilsonville?
It is late. Germination is slow and December is the wettest month, so we use heavier mulch or wait for spring.
Our lot backs onto Boeckman Creek. What is needed?
Check your permit, but expect a sediment barrier on the creek side and covered soil before the rains.
Do you seed HOA common areas in Villebois?
Yes, including open lawns, slopes and drainage areas.
